Scholars and researchers have tried to study genius but they only give the vital statistics. Havelock Ellis recognized most geniuses have fathers older than 30, and moms younger than 25, and were sick as children. But in the end this information proved to be worthless because Descartes was celibate, Dickens was fatherless and Darwin was motherless, intelligence is not enough when it comes to being genius. Creativity is not that same as intelligence, someone can be more creative then intelligent, or vice-versa. When asked to split 13 in half, what do you immediately think of? 6.5? Well that's one way. Geniuses think of other ways, such as: 13= 1 and 3; THIR TEEN=4, and so on. Geniuses look at problems in very different ways, rather than asking themselves: "How do I solve this, doing it the way I was taught?" Geniuses ask themselves: "How can I look at this different, how can I solve this differently? How many different ways can I look at this?"
Genius Hour Projects allow students to work on projects they are passionate about, in a safe school environment. This project promotes student-driven learning, which ensures that young students can think for themselves. Students can learn that failure IS an option, this project teaches students it’s okay to fail, learn from your mistakes and move on, it allows them to push themselves and take risks. From this article, I’ve learned I can share my passion with others, even if it fails I can learn from my mistakes, and move on. I need to push myself and take some risks, that’s why I chose to do my project on music. I want to push myself and overcome stage fright, I would love to share my passion for music with not only the community, but the world.
My Genius Hour Project is about music, which covers quite a bit of ground. I will post videos every two weeks of myself singing a song either chosen by you (the person reading this!). Or songs chosen by me, the songs will be covers, unless I complete a song of my own. I will upload one to two videos every week going over the chorus of a song chosen by you or myself. These videos will touch base on the notes in the chorus, the lyrics and learning how to sing them. Videos related to learning how to read sheet music, helpful videos I find online, learning how to sing eighth notes, sixteenth notes, etc. will be posted once every two weeks. I will post a quote or quotes weekly, and if you have any questions, comments, concerns or requests, you can respond to my blog post!
